I have been a Biology Teacher for 6 years in New York City Schools. Prior to this I attended St. John's University with a major in adolescent education with a concentration in biology. I received my masters degree from Touro University in instructional technology and instructional design, I have been certified to teach in New York State since 2019 and currently hold my professional certification. I have since been continuing my education with various professional development opportunities and credited courses.
I have tutored since I was a high schooler myself and continued my tutoring experience as I've progressed in my career. I really enjoy working in small groups or one to one with students to better help them understand content knowledge and go at a pace that is appropriate for them. I have experience working with students of varying abilities, including students with disabilities, students graduating early and students enrolled in college or AP courses. I typically pursue a student led inquiry approach when working with students and always engage in a personalized learning approach when working one on one. I find that these best support authentic and enjoyable learning and understanding for students.
I have taught students ranging from ages 6 to 20 years old. I have taught in a classroom setting, one on one and in group settings in combination for well over a decade. I have experience teaching and tutoring in Living Environment, Regents Biology, Regents Physics, ASL, AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, Anatomy & Physiology, Ecology, and any general sciences. I truly believe all students have the ability to learn and understand the fundamentals of the world around us and within us. Teaching is one of my greatest passions and I enjoy shining a positive light on science for all students.
