My strongest area is ACT Math and Science preparation. I scored a 35 in both sections on the ACT, a 34 composite overall, and a 740 in Math on the SAT. One thing I make sure every ACT student understands early is that the Science section has almost nothing to do with memorized science content. It is a reading and data interpretation test in disguise, and once students learn to approach it that way, their scores tend to improve quickly. Beyond test prep, I also tutor general high school math and science, from Algebra through Precalculus, Biology, and Chemistry.
My experience working with students spans a wide age range. Through Boy Scouts, I mentored younger members between the ages of 7 and 18, which taught me how to adjust my explanations depending on where a student is developmentally. What works for a seventh grader and what works for a high school junior are two very different things, and learning to read that gap and adapt to it has shaped how I approach every student I work with.
In sessions, I keep things focused and specific. I assign practice work after each meeting and spend the start of the next one reviewing it together so nothing slips through. My goal is straightforward: I want students to feel confident enough that they no longer need me. If you're preparing for the ACT or SAT, or working through a difficult course, feel free to reach out and we can put together a plan that fits your timeline.
