Hi! I’m Meredith. I'm a proud Ivy League graduate specializing in middle school English and test prep. I help middle school aged students improve their writing fundamentals and grammar, and I tutor for the SAT and ACT. I graduated from Cornell earlier this year with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Classics, so I've been through tons of advanced writing and STEM coursework, and I am confident I have the knowledge to help students succeed. With a few months of experience this year helping students develop their reading and writing skills in private tutoring, I’ve discovered the incredible satisfaction of guiding young learners to being able to become strong writers. However, I've always enjoyed teaching; I tutored privately for computer science throughout my undergraduate years, and worked as a residential assistant in school dormitories.
My approach is very personal and dedicated. I always give a free consultation for an initial session; I use this to diagnose each student's personal strengths and weaknesses. During lessons I will guide students through progressive learning modules, targeting problem areas and giving students a strong sense of progress. Lessons are a balanced mix of learning new concepts and applying them to relevant situations, resulting in a strong cycle of learning and reinforcement. For test prep, I help students through practice exams, or assign them outside of session and go over tricky questions during lessons. Of course, I adjust my teaching style and materials to suit the subject and each student's individual needs.
I am a highly committed tutor. I take notes on a student's progress after each session, and I am constantly researching about new practice materials and teaching methods. I welcome any resources or suggestions students or parents can provide, and maintain frequent communication via progress reports. I am easy to reach and will always provide fast responses.
