Hi, I'm Abby! I graduated from Cornell University in December 2022 with a BA in English and French (double major) concentrating in gender studies. I love to read, write, solve puzzles, and exercise. While in college, I worked as an English writing tutor for high school and college students and a French substitute teacher for high school students. I was a tutor at Cornell's Knight Writing Institute, where I worked one-on-one with undergraduate and graduate students to improve their analytical and creative writing processes and develop structural/organizational skills for papers. I love working one-on-one with students because it allows me to create a personal connection with a student and get to know them as a writer and a learner. Being a writing center tutor was my favorite extracurricular activity in college, because I found the work very fun and rewarding. I adapt my instructional approach to each student I have, as both writing and language usage processes are different for everyone.

I've been taking French classes since my freshman year of high school, and I majored in French in college. After I learned French grammar and pronunciation, my major required that I read complex French texts and write my own creative and analytical papers about them. Class time was spent discussing the texts we read and improving our own speaking ability. I can converse fluently in French, and I worked as a substitute teacher at a high school for French classes teaching grammar and vocabulary. I love knowing French, because it's such a beautiful language, and I want to help other French-learners improve their abilities.

I majored in English in college, worked as a writing tutor while in high school, and worked as a writing center tutor while in college. I have experience editing peers' papers and tutoring elementary school children for grammar lessons. I have also volunteered in the Ithaca community to teach reading and literacy skills to young children at the local library. I am skilled at writing well-organized analytical
