I'm Joshua G., an incoming University of Pennsylvania student (Class of 2030) and American Voices nominee for my creative nonfiction piece "Boca Brag and Schmear." I specialize in tutoring Latin, Ancient Greek, Spanish, and English composition for students from elementary school through college level. My passion for languages began early and deepened through immersion—I lived in Andalusia, Spain, where I developed fluency in Spanish and a deep appreciation for how language shapes culture and identity. Whether you're tackling Virgil's Aeneid, decoding Homeric Greek, looking to improve your Spanish, or crafting college application essays, I bring both academic rigor and genuine enthusiasm to every session.

My approach to tutoring is simple: languages aren't just memorization exercises, they're pathways to understanding entire civilizations and ways of thinking. In Latin and Ancient Greek, I help students move beyond rote grammar drills to actually reading and appreciating the texts that shaped Western thought—Cicero's rhetoric, Ovid's poetry, Plato's philosophy, and Sophocles' drama. For Spanish students, I combine traditional grammar instruction with conversational practice and cultural context drawn from my time living abroad. In English writing, I focus on helping students develop their unique voice while mastering the fundamentals of argumentation, clarity, and style that make essays stand out to teachers and admissions officers.

I offer flexible scheduling for online sessions via Zoom, making it easy to fit tutoring into your busy schedule regardless of where you're located. Let's unlock the beauty and power of language together.

Approved Subjects

English

English

I am currently enrolled in AP English Literature & Composition and previously scored a 5 on the AP English Language & Composition exam—a course centered on precisely the rhetorical analysis and argumentation your son is working on. I was recently selected as one of only four regional nominees for the national American Voices Award through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, representing fewer than 0.16% of entrants. I will be attending the University of Pennsylvania this fall, and have extensive experience helping students develop analytical writing skills, craft strong thesis statements, and build persuasive, well-structured essays.
Latin

Latin

I have studied Latin for all four years of high school, currently enrolled in AP Latin 4. I have earned Gold Medals in the National Latin Exam in 9th, 10th, and 11th grade—a national competition assessing reading comprehension and grammatical mastery. My studies have included classical prose and poetry, with a strong foundation in grammar, syntax, and translation. I am also proficient in Ancient Greek, which has deepened my understanding of classical language structure more broadly.
Spanish

Spanish

I am currently enrolled in AP Spanish 5 and hold the New York State Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish. I spent five weeks as an exchange student with a host family in rural Spain, speaking exclusively in Castilian—an experience that culminated in my delivering a speech to an audience of over 150 people in Spanish. I also regularly volunteer as a Spanish-speaking client guide at a local food pantry, assisting families and sometimes helping community members prepare for ESL exams.
