I spent twelve years teaching physics and biology in New York State public high schools, working with students from grade 8 through AP Physics. My classroom experience includes Regents Physics, AP Physics, Regents Living Environment, Forensic Science, and Environmental Science. I hold dual NYS professional certifications in Physics and Biology and an M.A.T. from Bard College.
Beyond classroom teaching, I spent twelve years as a science curriculum specialist at the school, district, and state levels, leading NGSS and NYSSLS curriculum transitions, designing three-dimensional inquiry labs, and delivering professional development to science teachers across New York. This background means I understand not just the content but also how students actually learn science: where they get stuck, which misconceptions are most common, and how to build genuine understanding rather than surface familiarity with procedures.
My tutoring approach is direct and student-centered. I work from where the student actually is, not where the curriculum says they should be. For physics, I focus on building physical intuition before formulas. For biology, I emphasize understanding systems and processes rather than memorizing vocabulary. I am comfortable working with students at all levels, from those struggling to pass Regents to those preparing for State exams and college coursework.
