Tutoring is a wonderful way to help students navigate through their own academic journey while doing something I am immensely passionate about. I have tutored a diverse range of students and helped them to achieve their A+ grades (many are now in graduate school). I am exceptionally knowledgeable in Organic Chemistry 1, Organic Chemistry 2, Biochemistry 1, and Biochemistry 2. I have tutored organic chemistry since I was a sophomore in college (5+ years of experience). I have also tutored Biochemistry since I was a junior in college (4+ years of experience). I was once where you are right now and I understand how frustrating it can be at times. As your educator, I will not only teach you the content, but show you helpful ways to remember what you will learn.

I graduated with departmental honors in Biochemistry from the City University of New York, Hunter College. I've earned an A+ in both organic chemistry 1 & 2 (CHEM 222 & CHEM 224) and had the opportunity to work as a teaching assistant/tutor for a PhD professor. Additionally, I excelled in biochemistry 1 & 2 where I earned a position as an undergraduate researcher in a structural biology laboratory at my alma mater.
Organic chemistry is a way of thinking that helps us to understand and simplify real-world chemical and biological problems. It is almost a foreign language, but if it is taught in an clear and concise way, it can be fun and engaging. I think it is an ingenious fusion of science and art. I will strive and work hard to help you understand the material via step-by-step walk through of mechanisms, arrow pushing, chemical regents, etc. We will work questions to help you grasp the content every step of the way.

Jonathan taught me like a professor and guided me throughout my course. He was supportive and prepared me for the next chapter in organic chemistry. He slowed down for me when I didn't understand anything and worked through the problems for me so I could understand. We went through a lot of Organic Chemistry concepts, such as stereochemistry and alkane reactions. He was great at breaking the big ideas and concepts down into small digestible knowledge nuggets. Very efficient use of time as well.

I was really struggling in Organic Chemistry II before I met with Jonathan. He is an excellent educator, and has really helped me comprehend the key components of Organic Chemistry. Jonathan is a very knowledgeable, prepared, and personable tutor. My O-Chem II course was extremely fast-paced (only a month long), and he was able to help me learn the material well (and quickly) even when I approached our sessions with months worth of material that I didn't understand. We easily organized meeting times for each session, and he would respond quickly to any questions I sent his way. Thank you for all of your help!
