I love tutoring privately because I can make students my top priority, and focus all of my time and attention on them. The students and I feel accomplished when we see positive results from our hard work. In addition, tutoring provides more of a relaxed atmosphere for the student to learn in. I focus on incorporating SEL strategies in my classroom and tutoring sessions because I believe that a student's mental health, well-being and personality are just as important as what a student can do academically. It may be this approach that got me nominated for a NYC Big Apple Award this year!
In my tutoring sessions, I focus on various reading skills and strategies as well as test-taking strategies.
