My name is Nina, and I am a first-year dental student currently pursuing my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Before dental school, I earned a Master of Medical Science and a Bachelor of Science in Biology. These degrees have given me in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and related sciences.
In terms of teaching experience, I’ve been tutoring science courses one-on-one for approximately one year, helping students ranging from late middle school through high school, as well as early undergraduate courses. My tutoring has been both paid and volunteer-based, and I’ve worked in informal settings and structured ones. I’ve helped students with general biology, anatomy & physiology, and foundational science concepts, especially preparing for tests, reinforcing course content, and clarifying difficult topics.
My approach is student-centred: I assess what a student already understands, identify gaps, and adapt my teaching style to their learning preferences (visual, verbal, or hands-on). I use real-world examples and analogies whenever possible to make abstract concepts more concrete. I encourage questions, feedback, and review practice problems together.
I have found success helping students improve their grades, boost confidence, and reduce their anxiety about tough science classes. I am comfortable working with all grade levels, but especially middle school, high school, and early undergraduate. If you’re looking for help in biology, anatomy, physiology, or related sciences, I’d be happy to support you with tailored lessons to help you not just pass, but truly understand the material.
