I am a former Regional Assistant Biologist for the New York State Office of Parks. A valuable aspect of this position consisted of my interactions with the public. During these meetings, I imparted my ecological knowledge to interested folks while deepening their connection with the natural world. I am a former Regional Assistant Biologist for the New York State Office of Parks. A valuable aspect of this position consisted of my interactions with the public. During these meetings, I imparted my ecological knowledge to interested folks while deepening their connection with the natural world. This distribution of knowledge is central to my teaching philosophy. I believe that learning should be available to all. Every person should have an education that gives the experience and knowledge necessary for their growth. I can assist a person's growth by sharing the knowledge I've gained through my education. Prior to my role as a biologist, I earned a BA in English with a minor in English writing and a BA in Biology with a concentration in Plant Science. This educational background provides me with a varied array of experiences to draw upon while I tutor. Education never ceases, and I still seek out educational opportunities. Specifically, I'm currently finishing my thesis for the Environmental Science and Ecology MS program at SUNY Brockport. As a graduate student, I was a teaching assistant for an environmental science course. The students trusted me with the important role of teacher. Many students came to me for help on projects, assignments, and labs. These experiences strengthened my ability to effectively share knowledge with others, an ability I use as I assist students on their educational paths.

Biology

Biology

I have an undergraduate degree in biology. Additionally, I worked as the assistant biologist for the Genesee Region of New York State Parks. Currently, I am finishing a master's degree in ecology
Biostatistics

Biostatistics

I’m a quantitative ecologist with extensive experience applying biostatistics to ecological data analysis and modeling. At the National Park Service, I developed and implemented generalized additive mixed models (GAMMs) to assess long-term fish population responses to drought and flood cycles, integrating water quality and hydrological datasets through custom R and API scripts. My graduate thesis used mixed-effects and multivariate models to study plant community dynamics and litter effects in oak openings. I specialize in teaching statistical modeling, experimental design, and R-based data visualization for ecological research.
Botany

Botany

I’m a plant ecologist with extensive experience in botany, ecological restoration, and plant community dynamics. My research has explored native and invasive species interactions, litter effects, and vegetation monitoring across diverse habitats. I’ve taught and tutored students in plant identification, taxonomy, and ecological analysis, helping them connect field observations with broader ecological theory. My approach blends real-world research experience with clear, applied instruction to make complex botanical concepts accessible. Experience includes botany aide for Bureau of Land Management; Stewardship Specialist (regional assistant biologist) for New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation
Ecology

Ecology

Finishing my graduate thesis in ecology. I have worked as an ecologist/biologist for New York State.
