Hi. My name is Sonia. I am native Italian, I was born and grew up in Italy. I have a degree from University of Palermo, in language and translation and specialized in Italian as second language.
I currently live with my family in New York, where I also teach Italian in an High school. When I was in Italy I started teaching in an elementary school introducing Italian to kids that never learned or spoke Italian before. My little students were coming from different countries, so we were learning using pictures, games, drawings, gestures. They were having fun and at that point I started to realize that you can learn having fun!
I am very proud of my origin, I love my culture, traditions and of course food! I love to share my passion with my students. I am a very spontaneous person and these quality reflect into my teaching style. Every day my goal is to make my lesson "memorable" and "enyoyable"!
Since there are different ways to learn, I use different tools and techniques to teach. Everybody can learn Italian!
I have an Italian teaching certification as "Italian as second language".
