Hi, I’m Colleen! I specialize in advanced writing, grammar, literary analysis, and history, focusing on AP Lang, AP Lit, APUSH, AP Gov (U.S. Government), and AP Euro. I help students master rhetorical analysis, literary interpretation, historical argumentation, and exam strategies to improve their confidence and academic success.

I hold an M.A. in Professional Writing from New England College and am pursuing an M.A. in History from Eastern Washington University. I have worked as an SAT exam editor for The College Board, founded a literary publishing company, and served as a professional proofreader for Chanel, McGraw-Hill, and American Express.

I teach students how to write high-scoring essays, whether for rhetorical analysis, literary essays, historical research, or argumentative writing. My literature expertise includes Shakespeare (Macbeth, Hamlet, Julius Caesar, Romeo & Juliet), Beowulf, Fahrenheit 451, The Great Gatsby, Animal Farm, Lord of the Flies, The Catcher in the Rye, The Crucible, and The Scarlet Letter. I also cover Transcendentalist thought with Emerson’s Self-Reliance and Nature, Thoreau’s Civil Disobedience, and key historical works like The Federalist Papers, Common Sense, and Letter from Birmingham Jail.

For history and government students, I provide expert instruction in Colonial America, the U.S. Constitution, Federalists vs. Anti-Federalists, the Enlightenment, the Age of Revolutions (American, French, and Haitian), and the Cold War’s impact on both the U.S. and Europe.

I have worked with high school and college students of all levels, from those strengthening foundational skills to those preparing for AP exams and college applications. My sessions emphasize clarity, structure, and critical thinking to help students grow in their abilities.

In addition to English and history, I tutor French and German, focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension.

I look forward to working with you!
Colleen
