Hello, I am Stephanos. I graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a bachelors in Mathematics. My favorite class was calculus 2. I specialize in integration and have won 3 consecutive Integration Bees at SUNY New Paltz. I have come to realize that the teacher has a significant impact on the way the student learns and whether they enjoy the subject or not. It is always my goal to not only help students progress in their learning, but to do so in a way they enjoy. The student will always get more out of the lesson if it is presented in a way they can connect with. Thus, I always try to engage the student and help them to actually enjoy math.

I have plenty of tutoring experience. I have been a SUNY New Paltz Math Lab tutor for 3 years. This is a drop in service where students enrolled in any math course can stop by anytime with questions and receive help. In addition to this, I also private tutored on the side. I also was a TA for a calculus 2 course during my senior year at the university. I take a lot of pride in helping students achieve great things in math. It is very rewarding to see my students improve significantly over the course of the school year. I have had students drastically improve within only a few sessions and students who stuck with me for the course of a whole semester tended to improve their average by at least one to sometimes two letter grades!

With all my experience in the math lab, as a TA, and as a private tutor, I have become familiar with a lot of the math curriculum. I tend to know what troubles students the most and how to explain things so that it clicks with the student. I have learned how to explain information in more than one way which is helpful if the student struggles to understand one method. It is very important to be able to explain things in more than one way!

Stephanos is an incredible tutor

He is calm, collected, extremely patient, and very articulate in explaining calculus concepts. I really appreciate his organization and his effort in writing out a step-by-step solution to every problem we had worked on. This also made it super easy to review our lesson's whiteboard without having to spend any time pin-pointing which problem went where because it was so clearly written. He also accommodated my last-minute plea to help review for my exam in calculus 2. While I haven't gotten feedback on my exam yet, I felt extremely confident with my answers and I owe a huge thank you to Stephanos for that. I absolutely recommend him for tutoring whether it be highschool or college. He instantly knew every answer. I've had about 5 other tutors with wyzant and while I've had good experiences with all of them, I was especially impressed that Stephanos was instantly able to solve this gnarly problem that my past tutor spent most of our lesson solving!
