Thorough and Conceptual Tutoring

I am a second-year undergraduate at UAlbany, maintaining a 3.9 GPA. I graduated from Loudonville Christian School with a 4.0 unweighted GPA, and earned a 1590 on the SAT. I tutored middle and high school in computer science and math through high school for 2 years. I have been tutoring in Science Olympiad - physical sciences, math, and study skills - for 5 years. Finally, I've worked as a gymnastics coach for 3 years. My strongest subjects to teach are Physics 1, High School Earth Science, Algebra 1/2, Pre-Calculus and Calculus 1/2/3.
Currently, I am intending to earn my Master's in Secondary Education at UAlbany by 2029. I am very familiar with best teaching practices, having read educational theory including Teach Like a Champion and Sanjay Sarma's Grasp.
As far as the distinct details of my tutoring: in high school, I tutored an 8th grader in block-style python coding twice-weekly. I helped him process through the problem-solving required for his homework, and prepared examples for him to illustrate specific sticking points. I also tutored a 9th grader in most of his subjects, especially Algebra 1 and English. We worked through most sessions with a review of many previous concepts learned, because his problem solving was sound, but his memory and term-concept association was weak. This made sessions flow more smoothly. With my Science Olympiad team, I directly instruct my students on harder points of their areas of study (which range through meteorology, physics, cartography, remote sensing, and engineering) while also assigning them take-home work/reading that is directed at the specific concepts they need to learn for their tests. At my gym, I break skills down into their component motions and assign drills where they are needed to build strength and coordination.
I am efficient at identifying the gaps in individual students' knowledge.
