My own experiences shape my approach to tutoring as both a student and an athlete. As a former team captain in basketball and track and field, I learned how to communicate clearly, stay patient, and explain things in a way that meets each person’s needs. I like to break big ideas into simple, understandable pieces and use real-life examples that make biology less intimidating and more connected to everyday life. Because I have struggled with certain topics before, I understand how important it is to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions.
Balancing athletics with advanced coursework taught me discipline, time management, and how to stay focused even when the workload is demanding. These experiences shape the way I teach: supportive, patient, and encouraging, with a focus on making sure students truly understand the material rather than just memorizing it.
