I'm Matthew! I graduated from Manhattanville University with a Master's degree in Educational Studies. In my time teaching abroad in South Korea, I learned that one of the most important factors in education is establishing a strong relationship with students. When students like their teachers, they look forward to classes and take a greater interest in class materials. My teaching approach involves acknowledging and considering the interests and concerns of my students while creating a comfortable space for them to learn and develop their skills.
I am a former teacher with 2 years of experience teaching in South Korea. I have tutored reading for struggling elementary aged students for 2 years. Many of these students initially read below their expected reading level and improved drastically throughout our classes together. I have some experience as a TA and as an independent tutor for college aged foreign exchange students. I am also trying to gain more experience tutoring ISEE prep and other similar tests.
My main goals are to make sure my students feel comfortable during our sessions and with the materials that we cover, and to help them learn as much as possible. I want my students to have great experience and I am open to any suggestions or feedback from students and parents. Feel free to contact me for any additional questions or to schedule a lesson.
