Hi, my name is Sam! I am currently a Junior undergraduate student, majoring in Applied Mathematics and minoring in Data Science. Once I am finished with my undergraduate degree, I plan to get a Masters in Math Education, to then go onto teach middle school or high school mathematics. Throughout my grade school life, I learned that school is hard, especially math, I want to ease the struggle by helping students work through and understand the problem. Students seem to understand and retain the math when working through problems instead of giving them the answers, even if it is a struggle, understanding all the areas that make it difficult will help when similar problems arise.
I have about a semester worth of unofficial tutoring; throughout my degree I've help my friends and classmates with their work. I have also helped them understand the areas that they are the most confused in. I work best with people who have a little bit of an understanding of the material that they are working on, but if they don't happen to have that or that is what they're needing help with, that's perfectly fine, I would just request them to have their note from class or other assignments so that way I understand what the teacher is asking for.
