I'm Nicole. I went to a university in Nebraska where I graduated with a degree in Special Education K-12. Immediately after graduating, I taught a summer school program in a K-6 setting and once that was completed, my husband and I moved to Las Vegas to pursue job offers out west. Once in Vegas, I was able to teach in both a middle and high school setting, working with students with Autism. While teaching these students, I was in charge of their education in classes ranging from math and English to various high school science classes and even one year, French! Due to their unique needs, each student had a tailor-made curriculum for them that would allow them to learn at a level and pace most beneficial to them.
In addition to teaching, I was also given the opportunity to run an after-school program for 3 years at the middle school level. The program which ran for 2 hours Monday-Thursday provided students access to homework help, ELL assistance, and a safe place to be once the school day ended. The program (After School All Stars) regularly seen 200+ students in daily attendance and my personal room was always full of students looking for some homework help.
After 6 years of teaching in Las Vegas, we made the move to Western New York (where we are now) so that I could aid elderly family members. I took a break from full time teaching but still greatly missed the kids and I continue to tutor kids through a local school district that are home on medical leave. I look forward to expanding my reach a little further with tutoring here and hope I can make learning even just a little better for you.
