Mary is an excellent tutor and a very warmhearted person. She is an intelligent woman with a right plan to guide anyone in a right direction. She has been very patient and accommodating to my needs. She went out of her way to prepare review sheets for the test. She has a lot of experience in teaching. I feel very comfortable and confident after having six sessions with Mary. I highly recommend her because I believe that she has amazing skills to help anyone who is struggling in any subject area.
I must say that Mary is very caring and professional person. She knows her content well!!!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My experience includes two years as an adjunct professor working with returning adult students @ SUNY Empire State College in the Student Support Services Lab where I counseled students in academic and career planning.
My experience working with Dyslexic students as a Special Educator in the NYC Public School system had me working on reading skills with Dyslexic students in the Integrated Collaborative Classroom. I conducted DRA Assessments to target student ability and need, and worked with a variety of reading programs and self-created strategies to help Dyslexic students.

As an Academic Advisor for five years in the NYC Public School system, I worked with students helping them to gain the appropriate work and study skills to be successful students.
