Since I was a little girl, I’ve always had a passion for the English language. When I first started college in 2010, I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do for a career, but I knew it had to include reading and writing somehow. After getting my associates degree in general studies, I decided to get my bachelors degree in English. While at Utica College, I studied linguistics, creative writing, poetry and many other subjects. During the end of my junior year, I started working in the writing center, in the colleges library, where I would tutor college students on creating a well developed essay, and proofread their work before turning it in. After graduating in May 2015, the college hired me to work as the lead tutor in the writing center.
I was accepted into an accelerated program called Transitional B, where I was able to start teaching before I was fully finished with my masters classes. While taking classes at Utica College, I worked in an inner city school district for three years teaching 9th, 10th and 11th grade English. I then graduated with my masters and completed my New York State certification in May 2020.
In 2021, I decided to make a shift to a more rural district. Five years later, I am still at that school and I am currently teaching eighth grade English. Teaching students is my passion and I truly can’t picture myself doing anything else whenever I have the opportunity to help, I am happy to do it.
