I have 3 years of experience tutoring writing at the Rockowitz Writing Center at Hunter College, where I tutored graduate and undergraduate students across disciplines on essays, papers, poems, and personal statements, and creative pieces. After that, I spent 4 years teaching English in Japan to elementary and middle school students in both classroom and one-on-one settings. I have also written short stories, screenplays, and media analysis, and participated in a range of creative writing and fiction workshops.

I use a conversational approach to tutoring influenced by the Socratic method I was trained to use at the Writing Center. Together, we will analyze the expectations you or your professors have for what you are writing, plan your research and revision process if necessary, and go through your drafts step by step. I specialize in helping students and writers when they are completely stuck or can’t find a starting point, helping them find their footing and figuring out where to take their next steps. My technique is question-based. As we delve deeper into your writing, our back-and-forth will drive you further to unlock the ideas and connections needed to make your points and conclusions.

Whether you need help with conciseness, grammar, proofreading, structure, thesis development, or citations, we’ll focus on the level of detail you need: abstract big-picture guidance or detailed sentence by sentence fine-tuning. I support writers at all skill levels, from students facing a challenging assignment to experienced writers looking to refine their craft. I’ve consistently been praised in workshops for helping writers discover their next steps, uncover inspiration, and explore new stylistic and analytical approaches.

The truth is that writing doesn't need to be hard; writing is thinking, and that makes it no harder than talking it through and having fun with it. Reach out to me, and we can begin the journey toward what you are envisioning, struggling with, or even toward finishing what you started.
