Hello! My name is Jean, and I grew up in Puerto Rico in a bilingual school where Spanish was one of my strongest subjects from middle school through college. Because of this background, language learning has always been a natural and meaningful part of my life. I am multilingual and speak English, Spanish, Korean, and Japanese, which has given me valuable insight into how students learn languages effectively. My experience learning and using multiple languages has helped me develop practical strategies that make language learning faster, easier, and more enjoyable.
I have four years of tutoring experience. For two years, I tutored English to Chinese-speaking students, and for another two years, I taught Spanish to American students. In addition to my tutoring experience, I volunteered for about seven years teaching children in Sunday school at my church. Through these experiences, I have worked with students ranging from preschool age to middle school and have taught both one-on-one and in small group settings. Working with children and language learners from different backgrounds has helped me become patient, adaptable, and creative in my teaching.
My goal is to make learning Spanish enjoyable, interactive, and confidence-building. I create lessons that are engaging and adapted to each student’s level and personality. I use images, songs, interesting vocabulary, and conversation practice to help students remember what they learn naturally. I also encourage students to begin speaking Spanish from the very first lesson so they can quickly build confidence and feel comfortable using the language. I believe every student can succeed with the right support and encouragement, and I strive to create a positive learning environment where students feel motivated and proud of their progress.
