Hi, welcome to my profile! My name is Emerald (Liangdongzi). I am a New York State certified English as a Second Language (ESL) and Mandarin teacher, and I have taught in public and independent middle and high schools for more than eight years in New York City. My specialties are teaching Mandarin through TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling), and helping students to prepare for IB English B exam.
I am a current second-year student at Teachers College, Columbia University pursing my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, and I received my language education degree from Steinhardt, New York University in 2016. I would love to help individuals who are preparing for college applications next year in any way that I can, and I am happy to share my journey and experiences in my application journey. I received my Bachelor’s degree in law from China Foreign Affairs University in Beijing, China, and I moved to NYC about 10 years ago. My career path also took a few turns, and I love to share my thoughts and experiences to anyone’s interested!
