I am a patient and understanding tutor who takes a sincere interest in those that I help. I can take the complex and make it seem simple. With a BS degree in meteorology (and minors in both math and English), and over 15 years of professional experience as a senior analyst (where I learned and use all MS Office applications - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook), economist, and tax preparer, my expertise is in MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Access, math, science, English, writing, and tax preparation.
Through my work, I use all of the MS Office applications, write extensive analyses and a monthly economic newsletter, and tutor students of differing ages and backgrounds.
The most important thing for a student is to understand their material. With both knowledge and understanding, you will be empowered to conquer anything you want. My goal as your tutor is to help you obtain that knowledge and understanding in a fun way. I am a patient and understanding tutor who takes a sincere interest in those that I help. Gary Z. is an extraordinary tutor. He is easily accessible and is always punctual. Gary's proficiency and knowledge in a variety of subjects makes it most convenient for a student needing help in more than one subject. As for me, with his patience and know how, I was able to grasp a subject totally foreign to me in no time. With his knack, he made me excel in computer science. I am most grateful.
Thank you very much Gary!
I am extremely happy with the end result. The pivot table you helped me crate works perfectly!
I would highly recommend Gary to anyone who needs help with Excel, pivot tables, vlookup, etc. Gary is very knowledgeable, patient, explains every step. I felt very comfortable working with Gary and would recommend him to anyone who needs help understanding Excel formulas and functions.

This week we worked on scanning. I have Windows 8 which is much different than what I am used to. He has been very helpful in teaching me this.
Thanks so much to Gary for his knowledge, professionalism and patience! He did everything he promised to do and more! We are very happy and satisfied and you will be too!
Gary was very patient, precise meaning he explained the instructions very clear. He understood my point that I need extra time to demonstrate a sample exercise to him.
Gary, utilizes a practical, conversational method of explaining excel. He tailors his responses to the student's specific questions. This teaching method is focused on providing the understanding a student seeks of the subject matter.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been using desktop computers for 25 years. During this period I have been trained in how to operate computers, use various types of software (computer programs), and diagnose hardware problems. While in private industry, I have continuously been a liaison between IT departments and various department to help facilitate communications.
I have 11 years experience in using Microsoft Access on a daily basis. In my current, and prior two positions, on a daily basis I have had to pull large amounts of data from in-house databases (using Business Objects or Synergy Analytics) and download this data into Access. I have had to create tables, and then queries to pull the data needed from Access, and then to copy and paste it into Excel. Once in Excel, I am/was able to create customized reports, ad hoc reports, or the reports I needed to do detailed analysis.

I have 8 credits in education, have been a tutor through WyzAnt for over 2 years, and tutored/trained people of differing ages and backgrounds for over 20 years. With a BS degree in Meteorology, and minors in both Math and English, through the years I have honed my study skills to the point where I never received a failing grade in any subject for even a single marking period. As a tutor/trainer, over the past 20 years I have shown students the importance of self-discipline and proper time management, and worked with them to improve their research and organizational skills. This has helped all those I have trained/tutored improve their grades in school and job performance in the workplace.
My first position upon graduating college was as a Tax Preparation Advisor for the IRS, where they trained me in tax preparation and tax law. After being with them for nearly 18 months, I then moved to private industry, where I have worked as a statistician, economist, and analyst/manager of analytics ever since. For all the years I have worked in private industry, I have continued to do income tax preparation "on the side", where I have had steady customers through the years. I estimate that I have prepared close to 500 income tax returns since 1980.
I am an experienced writer who, through my work, writes a monthly economic newsletter that is distributed worldwide.
