Hello! My name is Abigail. I received my Bachelors majoring in Psychology at George Washington University, I then went to receive my Masters in Teaching at Notre Dame of Maryland University.
I currently work as an Elementary ESOL/TESOL Teacher (ENL in NY) and have previously worked as the same but at a High School level. My method of teaching is I love to keep things fun and authentic. I am a big believer on using Project based learning and believe that all students learn differently and should be provided the support to succeed in all ways. Creativity and Imagination are two important qualities to have in order to learn and to teach. Learning should never be boring because this inhibits children from reaching the potential that they could. I approach all students with an open mind and will give feedback on all aspects of their work and always ensure they are doing okay even outside of academics and lessons. Emotions and feelings are both important and factor into performance.
As mentioned in the beginning I have worked with High School (mostly 9th grade) and in Elementary I have worked with grades Kindergarten-5th grade. This, of course, takes places in a classroom setting. However, I have also volunteered in multiple organizations and community services and done one-on-one work during an afterschool foundation program.
I would love the opportunity to get to know and support anyone who needs my support!
