Hi! My name is Edith and I would love to be your tutor.

A bit about me -- in 2019 I graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Literature from Harvard University, where I was awarded multiple competitive essay prizes in my department and elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. In 2023, I earned my Master’s degree in Writing from the Michener Center for Writers at UT Austin, a fully-funded fellowship program that typically reports a ~2% acceptance rate. I’ve been tutoring high school and college students in one-on-one and small group settings since 2016. One of my core specialties is writing coaching, and I have experience assisting students with the following: Common App and college supplement essays, graduate school application essays, high school/college/graduate school term papers, and creative writing portfolios. In addition, having earned a perfect score on the SAT in high school, I also specialize in standardized test prep; I've racked up over 1000 hours of experience tutoring the Digital SAT and SHSAT, and have also helped students prep for the ACT, TACHS, ISEE, SSAT, and New York State Tests. I've helped students attain admittance to Stuyvesant and Bronx Science, refine prize-winning writing portfolios, and achieve score improvements of over 200 points on the Digital SAT. I'm proud to share that past students and mentees have been accepted to institutions including Wharton, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, USC, UCLA, NYU, UMich, Georgetown, Carnegie Mellon, and Cambridge University.

In my own learning journey, I’ve been motivated above all by the joy of discovery and achievement. By far, the most meaningful part of my work as a tutor has been assisting students to find joy, purpose, and confidence in their own learning. I believe in the importance of listening to each student and tailoring a flexible plan to respond to your needs. I’m passionate about problem-solving and I’ll gladly work with you to develop the learning/writing strategies that work best for you.

Awesome teacher

Our son had more than 20 lessons with Edith. It was a remarkable experience for our son who is a smart and very curious boy. He liked her a lot and completed his high school admission with her help and achieved high scores in ISSE examination. Edith is smart, knowledgable and an effective teacher. She has a down to earth personality.Highly recommend for any parent who is looking for an english teacher for their kids. You can’t find better.

Excellent Editor and Application Advisor

Edith helped me work on my PhD application, talking me through how to present the best possible writing sample. She has a keen eye for evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of graduate-level research papers, and also for helping to strategically position different pieces of an application to highlight the candidate's abilities and potential. I'd trust her to help with essays and applications at any level!

Incredible Tutor!!

I am working with Edith regarding a paper I am writing for a law school class, and she has been so helpful for each step of the writing process! From brainstorming counterarguments, to structuring my ideas in the most effective way, to editing my drafts, Edith has helped break down this project into manageable pieces and guided me through each piece to bring out my best work.
