Hi there! My name is Yocheved. I love learning and teaching Math and Physics. I have always been a verified math brain. I started teaching math by tutoring family members and friends. Then I got my first job teaching math at the Mathnasium math tutoring center. It was there that I was taught many valuable tools on how to work with a vast array of students. At the tutoring center we had students ranging from 4 years old up until 12th grade. I learned how to work with students with different personalities and learning styles. I was taught to stop and take a new approach if a student was struggling to understand the material. I also did some private tutoring with high school students as well.
I have experience working as a GED Math teacher for refugees. There I worked with students with almost no background in math due to circumstances out of their control. We had to start from scratch at a first-grade level. It was amazing to see the joy the students had in finally having access to the math we use daily and perhaps take for granted. I also taught math and science at a semester study abroad program for high school students. There I taught Science, Algebra 2, Algebra 2 Trig, and PreCalc. I currently work for a company that works with schools to provide teachers online. This gave me the tools on how to navigate online learning. At the company I teach PreCalc 2 Trig and Algebra 2 Trig online to high school students.
My philosophy when working one on one with a student is to find an individualized approach for each student. I also stop and reassess the teaching methods in real-time if the student is struggling with a given approach. I work with each student to achieve their preset academic goals.
