About Cris

Bio

I became a mathematics tutor at the age of 14. Since then, I have tutored students in mathematics, from grade school through graduate school. I have also taught students mathematics, from grade school through graduate school. My style is simple. The student holds the pencil, does the work, grows through the process while I coach them into connecting what they already know with the content at hand.

I currently continue the great work of educating mathematics students, as a college instructor; but I also continue to work with K-12 students. I am ever learning and growing as a mathematics tutor and teacher. I have a New York State Professional Mathematics, 7-12 Certification, which does not expire. In my teaching , I have had success rates including 100% New York State algebra regents pass rate in most of my algebra courses, a 100% pass rate at the end of a college algebra class I taught a few years ago, and I have had the opportunity of working with a student whose first New York State mathematics test success happened in my algebra 1 course. The students I work with are consistently successful, despite their struggles. Student-success is the reason for my tutoring; their success is my joy.

Very thorough and encouraging!

Cris continues to be a great influence on my student. She has made great progress since meeting with Cris. He understands her strengths and weaknesses and aims his lessons on those factors. She not afraid of math any more! I am so grateful to Cris!

Knowledgeable, patient, compassionate, & resourceful

Cris just started tutoring my nephew, who struggled to learn algebra during remote learning. He is already learning so much from Cris. We are very pleased with his tutoring skills, compassion, and his endless resources. He is truly a fantastic educator who makes his students feel comfortable and confident. Highly recommend.

Best tutor I have ever had.

He was able to effectively communicate the topics we covered. Also answered so many questions before and after the session. I don’t think i’ll ever meet a better tutor. Thanks Cris, Osman
