I am experienced in teaching math that meets the New York State Standards for grades 1-4. First graders I have taught move on to second grade as readers. Students I have taught in fourth grade have achieved 93% and 86% passing on New York Math and ELA State tests respectively. I am well versed in the Base Ten number system and believe that once students grasp this system math becomes easier to understand. I am very passionate about ELA because it is where students develop ideas and express themselves. However, before they are able to do this effectively, they must be able to read, comprehend, and interpret literature.
