Hi, I'm Rachel!

I'm dedicated Social Worker with extensive learning in community advocacy, psycho-social education, research, and Spanish. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Evangel University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Social Work and double major in Public Administration. In 2018, graduated with a Master of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh, with a concentration in Community Organization and Social Action.

From August 2019- July 2020 I did a year long Spanish language and cultural immersion program in San Jose, Costa Rica. When studying, I appreciated my professors who took the time to explain the rules that went along with the grammar and the "why" behind certain linguistic characteristics. Their patience is what fueled me to want to tutor my own students in fun and creative ways!

For 4 years, I have lived and worked (both in person and virtually) across the USA and Latin America training middle schoolers, high schoolers, and adults alike. I have tutoring experience in both English and Spanish and have worked with more than 50 students through in-person after school programs and virtual tutoring opportunities. I have taught both in small group format (5-10 students) and individually.

I love culture, language, food, and the all the richness that comes with immersing yourself in a new place and language. I use this passion to make both Spanish lessons and Psycho-Social educational topics fun and practical. I combine theoretical understanding with hands-on activities and weekly homework that get you involved in the topic of your tutoring choice. Whether you want to learn Spanish or take on new executive functioning skills or relationship building techniques, lets work together to create a plan that works for you!
