Currently attending CUNY-Queens College in pursuit of a Bachelor's in Secondary Education. My desire to teach/tutor derives from my compassion to help another. I have a total of 5 years ongoing tutoring experience and I have shared my services with a few companies. Tutored with Mathnasium at two locations for three years, supervised "Afterschool Homework Help"; a program underway at David Patterson Elementary via partnership with Impact Learning Center. This educational journey has been rewarding. Making genuine connections with people I share my time with gives me joy, seeing comprehension and grades improve makes me enthusiastic. I have tutored across the general age spectrum; 5 years old up to 18 year old college-bound students. Alongside regular employment I have provided my own private services. This has given me ample opportunity to personalize a learning experience. Thus far, I have put together several documents that cover various Algebra 1 and Geometry topics.
I find visual teaching to be extremely effective. Graphic images give the desired method tangibility. Whether I'm using actual objects or simply writing out the method, this helps one easily identify terms. I am a firm believer that confidence is a key factor in achieving success. A strong basis in fundamentals will increase one’s proficiency and heighten their confidence. I emphasize fundamentals for students to not just simply be aware of them but to see their relationships and how they affect the desired method.
I can hold sessions online or in-person, whatever works best for you. I have a growing catalog of worksheets and guides that I'd love to share. My primary focus is MS/HS but I welcome all who seek assistance.
