I am a certified Reading Specialist who is in love with developing the gift of reading and writing for struggling students and adults. I've worked with students in grades K-6 for over a decade as a classroom teacher and Reading Specialist. I am well versed in a number of Research Based Reading intervention programs that can tackle difficulty with decoding, fluency, and/or comprehension. I am formally trained in using a variety of different systematic reading programs such as the Wilson Reading System, LETRS, Rewards, Great Leaps, HDWord, ECRI, and SPIRE.

I have a Sixth Year Master’s degree in Remedial Reading and participated in the Connecticut Writing Project. Outside of Wyzant, I’ve obtained over 75 hours of tutoring experience with the Wilson Reading Program and typically work with students who score below the 40th percentile in national reading assessments.

Many students that I have worked with, over the course of a school year, have made 1-3 grade level increases in their reading and comprehension abilities. I became a teacher to help build successful readers who are not hindered in life due to their inability to read and/or write. My goal is to build lifelong, confident, and fulfilled readers.
