Hello! I'm Anjan! I am currently an undergraduate student completing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Chemistry and a minor in Environmental Engineering. Since I used to be taught by tutors, I promised to help as many students as possible in my free time. In High School, I tutored many students in their homework and class topics that they felt were hard to understand. I would even stay back after school and meet at the local library or Starbucks and work with the student. Instead of showing the solution to the problem, I gave a step-by-step procedure to approach the problem. I like to think that every student has the capability of doing well. It would require some practice because if, at first, you don't succeed, try try again!

I have a year's worth of experience tutoring my classmates and other students in High School Algebra 1 and 2. I typically met with the student on a 1-on-1 instructional method. I was even assigned students who needed extra assistance as they weren't doing well in their classes. I sat down with them and understood their perspective, and we worked around getting them to do well.

My favorite subject of all is Chemistry. Since High School and now college, I have kept my focus on Chemistry and have helped many students. One such example would be a student struggling with how the foundation of Chemistry works. I sat down with the student, and we started from the basics of Chemistry, like what contains in an atom, to complex situations of compound structures and introductory thermodynamics. At first, it was challenging, but the student understood the material over time, and eventually, he did well in the class. From a tutor's perspective, it shows that I have done a great job in making sure a student does well.

It is challenging to learn Chemistry on pencil and paper, so I have used free online programs to show 3D models and displays of reactions, atoms, molecular interactions so the student can see the illustrations of what we would see through a powerful microscope. We work on each step at a time, and with more practice, these students got to learn how to tackle a similar problem down the road.

My experiences in tutoring Geometry come down to sitting down with various students who needed help preparing for exams or wanted the extra help in doing some practice problems. Breaking down the curriculum and working on each topic for 2-3 meetings boosted their students' understanding. I have learned more accessible tactics in learning content, likewise "hints" or strategies that can help solve a problem or understand a concept or definition. I would use 3D modeling programs to show some geometry models, such as volume and cross-sectional area topics, to help the student visualize the question. The compass and ruler are always the best tools to have because they help illustrate a tangent line. So I use these tools as a guideway for students who need help.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Pre-Calculus is the pre-derivative to that of actual calculus. The area comprises a majority of knowledge learned in Algebra 1, 2, and Geometry. I currently tutor students in a wide range of all three subjects and have tutored Calculus 1-2. An example of such a method would be reviewing past topics surrounding algebraic expressions to polynomial factoring and adding new topics like the Law of Trig Functions into each area. This helps familiarize the subject while adapting to Pre-Calculus. Other methods include drawing shapes and figures when necessary to show how to the function/problem behaves under parameters present in the question.

My son needed algebra help for a test to stay eligible for basketball.
