Hello Good day,

I am a dedicated academic tutor with over a decade of experience teaching mathematics and engineering fundamentals across multiple levels. I am two classes away from completing my associate degree in Mechanical Engineering and Science at LaGuardia Community College, and I am currently halfway through my bachelor’s program in Aerospace Engineering and Science at EmbryRiddle Aeronautical University. My professional background includes working for the New York City Department of Education as a teacher’s assistant, where I support students in classroom learning (including smart classrooms) and individualized instruction. From 2008 to 2020, I also worked in the Mathematics Department at LaGuardia Community College, tutoring every level of math offered at the college and serving as a lab instructor for the remedial math sequence. These roles have given me a deep understanding of how students learn, where they struggle, and how to guide them toward confidence and mastery to the best of my abilities.

My tutoring approach is built on clarity, patience, and structured problemsolving. I specialize in breaking down complex concepts into simple, manageable steps that help students truly understand the material rather than memorize it. Whether I am supporting a middleschool learner, a college student tackling calculus, or an adult returning to school, I create a positive and organized learning environment tailored to each student’s needs. I focus on strengthening foundational skills, developing strong study habits, and building longterm academic confidence. Students working with me can expect clear explanations, guided practice, and a supportive atmosphere that encourages questions and celebrates progress. My goal is always to help learners not only improve their grades but also develop the independence and critical thinking skills that will serve them throughout their academic journey.

Thank you,
Steven Mangi

ACT Math

ACT Math

I have nearly 20 years of experience teaching and tutoring mathematics, including Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and advanced problem‑solving techniques that directly support ACT Math success. My background includes engineering coursework, NYC Department of Education classroom experience, and long‑term private tutoring focused on standardized test performance. I specialize in helping students improve timing, pattern recognition, and strategic decision‑making on the ACT. My approach combines targeted content review with ACT‑specific shortcuts, pacing checkpoints, and timed drills that build speed and accuracy. Students I work with consistently report stronger confidence, faster problem‑solving, and measurable score gains within weeks. I offer structured programs tailored to each student’s goals, including diagnostics, weekly assignments, milestone assessments, and clear progress tracking. Thank you, Steven Mangi
ACT Science

ACT Science

I have extensive experience tutoring ACT Science, with a focus on teaching students how to analyze charts, graphs, tables, and experimental setups quickly and accurately. My approach emphasizes pattern recognition, timing strategy, and the specific reasoning skills the ACT rewards — not memorizing science facts. I help students break down each passage type (Data Representation, Research Summaries, and Conflicting Viewpoints) and develop a repeatable method for identifying trends, comparing results, and eliminating distractors. Students consistently see improvements in both speed and confidence as they learn how to approach the section strategically and avoid common traps. Thank you, Steven Mangi
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have many years of experience teaching and tutoring Algebra 1 at the middle‑school and high‑school levels, including supporting students who struggle with foundational skills or confidence. My background in engineering strengthens my ability to explain equations, functions, graphing, linear relationships, systems, and problem‑solving in a clear, step‑by‑step way. I also specialize in breaking down concepts so students understand the “why” behind the methods, not just the procedures. Students and parents consistently appreciate my patient approach, structured explanations, and the steady improvement they see in both skills and confidence. Thank you, Steven Mangi
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have nearly twenty years of experience teaching Algebra 2. My engineering background helps me explain advanced topics clearly and simply.
