My name is David! I graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor's in Mathematics from Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY) in 2019 and hold a Master's in Economics from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY. I am currently a researcher in physical oceanography. Most recently, I was an Adjunct Professor of Economics. I have been tutoring and working with students ever since I was an undergraduate, and conveying the joys of learning is one of my great callings in life.

For nearly a decade, I've developed over 1000 hours of experience in teaching 100's of students ranging from the high school (ages 14-18) to graduate school level. Under my tutelage, students have gone from failing a course, to succeeding with an A or B grade. I am a versatile instructor, with expertise in secondary school-level Algebra I/II, AP Precalculus, AP Calculus AB/BC, college-level Calculus I/II/III, Introductory and Intermediate Microeconomics, and graduate-level statistics courses in Causal Inference. Moreover, I have taught all modalities of instruction, from one-on-one tutoring online and in-person, to university lecture halls in classes of around 40 students. My approach has always been to center students' needs first, allowing them to tailor the tutoring instruction as needed. Additionally, I am a skilled typesetter of mathematical and scientific notes, and can produce textbook-quality study materials on the spot as supplementary materials for students to study from.

As the American physicist Richard Feynman once alluded to, the greatest form of learning is to teach and share knowledge with others. I will go to bat for you and do everything I can to not only ensure that you have the technical skills needed to succeed, but have the confidence to academically thrive. If you would like to study with me and see how transformative and insightful mathematics can be in illuminating our world, please reach out!

Clear, patient, relatable

My son had a great experience with David. He came to the session prepared and focused to get to the bottom of the issue, which was clarifying and simplifying the problems at hand (differentiation of polynomial and exponential functions). Looking forward to continuing to work improving my son AP Calculus and ease his stress while taking tests.

Well prepared, enthusiastic, patient

David was willing to review my homework materials in advance in order to come prepared to the session. He was enthusiastic about the material and able to discuss different approaches to understanding abstract topics, which was helpful, and was patient in breaking down the problems we reviewed.

well organized teacher, very patient

David was very well organized and effective. My son was very happy with his in-person pre-calculus session with David. Also, I appreciate it very much that David is available for on-person sessions as my child has HDHD and this is the only form of tutoring that seems to work for him.

Very good lesson

My son loved his lesson with David. Very clear and thorough explanations of the material. Great help in mastering Math for Economics. We will continue for the rest of the semester and possibly beyond.

Caring and competent

David has tutored my son in third grade math. He really cares about the student and understands some of the barriers to learning and has really tackled this with my son. He helped move the needle with my son in one session and I look forward to his ongoing work and guidance with my son!
