My approach to coaching is catered to each individual. I believe that every person has talents that can be harnessed with mentoring and support, regardless of experience level. I am hands on with my students and help them build confidence with the ball by strengthening their skills in improving touch, control, posture and tricks.
Engagement is fundamental, and in order to achieve effective engagement the following elements are in my opinion necessary:
a) Build trust: I always introduce myself explaining how I see my role with the student. I am very friendly, with a smiley and positive approach. I am open-minded and I always maintain eye contact.
b) Constantly listen and communicate with students.
c) Adapt learning process according with each student current phase.
d) Take on student's perspective, trying to understand, and possibly share and respond to their experiences.
Student can learn in many ways, and game play situations, agreed upon between myself and the student, are in my opinion the best way to have fun, built confidence, motivation and discipline.
Whether your requirements are playing barefoot or with fancy cleats all you need is a ball!
