As a freelance tutor, I have also worked with high school students on AP tests, class papers, and standardized tests. I am comfortable working both with students who find school challenging and with high-achieving students students pushing themselves to excel, because I have been in both positions. Years ago, I dropped out of college because I was struggling to make progress. I returned to college to earn a BA in history from Le Moyne College, winning a medal for the highest achieving student in liberal arts, and an MA in philosophy from Tufts University's top-ranked terminal program in the country. I am passionate about helping people become more effective academic readers and writers, and I truly believe anyone can improve at these skills.
My experience is very relevant to students going through the college application process. At the Tufts writing center, I worked with students on application essays for medical schools, doctoral programs, and transfer to top undergraduate institutions. I am familiar with competitive application processes from working with the Tufts Office of Scholar Development to help students prepare Fulbright applications. I also recently earned perfect scores on the Verbal and Writing sections of the GRE, and I am experienced with tutoring the equivalent sections of the SAT and ACT.
