Hi, this is Harry!
After a long career in science (Ph.D. Physics, Syracuse University) and software engineering (Standard and Poor's, Intercontinental Exchange, Bank Of America), I am now interested in helping young students improve upon their skills and reach their full potential. My belief is that any student who is motivated, under a good guidance, they can overcome any obstacles and reach success.
My areas of expertise is Mathematics, Physics and Chess. From my own experience I am aware that many young students are intimidated by these subjects. But I believe that if taught properly, these subjects can be fun, as the students gradually reach a deeper understanding.
If you believe that a tutor can be of help, I will gladly be willing to provide my skills.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Mathematics has been my favorite subject since I was very small. While this subject would bring terror to most of my classmates, I always considered it fun. When I was at High School I won first place in the National Math Exam of my home country (Greece). Later on, even when I specialized and earned my degrees in Physics, I still loved Mathematics, and conducted research in a pioneer mathematical field of Topology (Knot Theory). Now I would love to share my experience with young and adult students, make them love the subject, and become successful.

Chess

Chess

I have been playing the game of chess since I was very small, and I have been a member of the US Chess Federation for more than 20 years. My current chess rating places me among the top 15% of US chess players. I have won first place in three major USCF tournaments: Northeastern U-1650 (2017), Manhattan Classical U-1700 (2019), and Chessanity U-1800 (2019). My teaching philosophy is to have the student enjoy the game. I would like my students not only to aim to victory, but also to understand the game and its nuances as deeply as they can. I want my students to enjoy whether they win or lose, and always try to improve themselves. I believe that chess builds character and this is the message I want to convey to my students.
Geometry

Logic

Logic

My long experience in Physics (Ph.D. Syracuse University) and as a software engineer (Standard and Poor's, Intercontinental Exchange, Bank Of America), and my passion for Mathematics and Chess, would not have been possible without a deep understanding in Logic. The truth tables, the logic operations "and", "or" and "xor", and all other elements of Logic form the basis of computer science.
Physics

Physics

Physics was the course that I most loved when at school. I entered the Physics Department in Athens University, was one of the top student, and after completing my Bachelor's Degree, I continued my study in the graduate department in Syracuse University, where I earned my Master's and Ph.D. degree.
