I have recently graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Sustainability Studies. The courses I have taken include, but are not limited to: Differential Equations, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Heat Transfer, Fluid Dynamics, Numerical Methods and Programming, Statics, Engineering Dynamics, Elements of Mechanical Design, Finite Element Methods & Analysis, and Control Systems. I have researched heat design in a research group for 3 semesters and have written a manuscript. Also, I have 1 publication in the field of ecotoxicology. While this publication was not for my degree, I enjoy dipping my toes in other subjects. I have certification in Lean Six-Sigma, meaning I have worked on designs while implementing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma workflows. I am also certified in CPR for Child, Adolescents, and Adults and my certification is up to date.
While I am a new tutor and have not tutored in academic subjects yet, I have taught in sports and hope to apply those teaching skills to academia. Most recently, I have taught college students modern dance for 3 years in groups of up to 11. While I am very keen on technical skill, I made sure they had pointers of how to enhance their performance to the next level. Prior, I have volunteered to teach in TaeKwonDo for about a year and in Jiu Jitsu for about 2 years. I taught primarily children in small groups with teens and adults in the mix. I also assisted with golf as a golf camp counselor with small groups of children ages 8-14, and while required in the job, if someone wanted pointers I would give guidance.
If any student had significant trouble in any of my experienced subjects, I was more than happy to go 1-on-1 to ensure they got the most from their lessons. My philosophy is that as much as the students are learning from me, I am also learning about the students. I strive to know how to improve my teaching skills in the future as well as keep students engaged. Feedback is always appreciated! :-)
