I am a teacher for the simplest of reasons; I thoroughly enjoy teaching. I like planning lessons, because each one gives me an opportunity creatively to approach obstacles in our central text or task and in the learning process itself. I particularly enjoy individual tutoring because I find that this setting encourages students to take intellectual risks.

I have six years of experience teaching middle school English Language Arts in NYC public schools. This year, I have expanded my skills in interdisciplinary learning by collaborating with our Social Studies department to bring our courses of study into alignment and emphasize the connections between history and literature. Although my most recent teaching experience is at the middle school level, I served a one-year teaching residency at the high school level and have prior experience as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Oxford.
My range of experience allows me to address the needs of all students. My approach is based on careful identification of a students' needs and knowledge gaps and articulation of concrete goals. In each tutoring session, I strive to maintain a balance of discussion, guided practice, and independent practice with time to review and revise.
Please contact me if you have any questions about how I might help you or your student. I am easy to reach and will respond quickly.
