Hey there! My name is Kyle, and I've been working behind a camera for over a decade. From photography to filmmaking to commercial video production, I've done it all. My work has played in film festivals across the country, and won awards in a number of industries. My commercial clients include Walmart, Tyson Foods and multiple universities.

I love geeking out over the ins and outs of camera specs, lens choices, color theory and narrative structure. Never complacent, I'm always learning, and working to improve my skills along the way. A world traveler, I'm also passionate about exploring beyond the technical "rules" of our craft, and figuring out what's at the heart of making art that resonates.

I am new to teaching, but excited to share my knowledge and experience.

In college, I double majored in Digital Media Production and Theatre Arts: Acting & Directing. Since then, I have written and directed over 10 short films, written a feature-length screenplay, and studied every facet of film production. Working professionally in video production for 7+ years has given me on-set experience, and has seen me working alongside cinematographers, actors, producers and designers in the industry. I am constantly studying films, both modern and classic to learn about story structure, camerawork, film psychology and the art and craft of filmmaking.

I have been taking photos for over a decade, and studied photography all through high school and college. Beyond the art of photography, I have a deep passion for learning the intricacies of camera design, and the technical details of what makes a photo work. I have photographed across almost every major camera manufacturer, and in industries ranging from studio work to weddings to product photography to actor headshots.

BA in Theatre Arts: Acting & Directing. Placed first in regional theatre sound design twice at KCACTF - worked in the Kennedy Center in DC both years as a result, and for one of the two years, I placed second nationally. Wrote a fully produced musical at Dordt University. Performed in over 13 stage productions - high school, college and local. Sound interned at Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2017. Worked in stagecraft and theatre graphic design for multiple years.

In college, majored in digital media production. Since graduation in 2017, videography has been my professional career. I've written, directed, produced and edited videos for clients like Walmart, Hershey's and Nickelodeon, and have also done extensive work in higher ed. I have a deep passion for continued learning, and am constantly pushing myself to improve and develop.

During my Visual Storytelling class Kyle was helpful and very understanding. He always made sure I understood the assignment and helped me brainstorm ideas that I was able to capitalize my own story ideas from. I highly recommend him to anyone needing help in any film related class.
