Hi there, I'm so glad you've found Cells With Mel! I'm Melissa, a post-graduate student passionate about science and education. I was recently accepted to medical school, and before I start this summer, I want to utilize the knowledge I've gained during my undergraduate and graduate degrees to help others studying science. I received my Bachelor's degree in Public Health Science on the pre-med track from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2022, and then pursued my Master's Degree in Biology at Hofstra University, where I graduated in 2024. As someone who believes that learning is not one-size-fits-all, I feel that each student can benefit from a tutoring experience that caters to one's academic strengths and provides support in areas that can be improved. I feel that kindness is critical in providing an optimal educational experience, and as a daughter of two teachers, I have seen firsthand how far a little patience can go- especially when the material isn't clicking right away. It is my goal to foster an environment where my students can feel comfortable and heard, and that they are always made aware of the qualities that make them awesome, both as students and as people.

When I'm not tutoring, I volunteer with the Crisis Text line, engage in biology and public health research, and work as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I love to travel the world, do makeup, and, as a self-proclaimed foodie, I enjoy chatting with friends over meals at new restaurants. Calamari for the table, always.
