My strength as an educator stems from my diversity of knowledge and experience. I have endeavored to model my philosophy on the Renaissance Men and autodidacts of history: Leonardo da Vinci, Gottfried Leibnitz, Cicero… I have travelled to Barrow, Alaska; San Francisco, California; Key West, Florida and Berlin, Germany. I've read novels by Leo Tolstoy, Charles Dickens, Richard Wright, George Eliot and J.K. Rowling. I admire the compositions of Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Wagner. I served in the United States Navy during Operation Desert Storm. I've performed manual jobs from unloading trucks to cleaning toilets. And I've pursued cerebral undertakings from discoursing on literature in German at the Goethe Institut to teaching integral calculus. I have even explored numerous religious doctrines and learned rudimentary Spanish and French.

Training and teaching philosophy: Wyzant has approved me to tutor in 30 distinct subjects. My expertise derives in part from my 14 years of tutoring experience and in a lesser part to my college studies. I attended The City University of New York (Hunter College) where I majored in German and minored in Mathematics. I am patient and encourage my students to ask questions but I am also focused and cognizant of time restraints and deadlines. I am always available to my students, their parents and their teachers if I can help in any way.

Mathematics: Math is perhaps my favorite subject. There is a correct answer to each question; it is definitive and provable and lies outside the domain of human tastes and biases. I teach Elementary Math, Prealgebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Probability and Precalculus.

Science: Science is the foundation of everything from how the universe was formed to the latest technological breakthroughs. I have explored the following fields with my students: Elementary Science, Geology (Earth Science), Biology, Chemist

Great Tutor! Really helped my son with summer homework.

My 12 year old son had twelve pages of summer math homework to finish on his last days of summer vacation. Although we didn't have much time available, John K. really saved the day with his patient and efficient teaching methods. My son was very enthusiastic about the lessons received and extremely happy with the completion of his assignment. Highly recommend his services.
