Hi! I'm Amelia, and I am a Public Health Engineering student at Tufts University. I am currently on the Dean’s List with a 3.96 GPA and have a strong academic background in mathematics, science, and engineering. In high school, I earned a 35 ACT score and received scores of 5 on seven AP exams, including Calculus, Statistics, Biology, Physics, U.S. History, Global History, and English Literature. Because I recently completed many of the courses that my students are taking, I understand both the material and the challenges students commonly face when learning it. This allows me to explain concepts in a way that makes sense to students.
In addition to my academic experience, I have worked as a tutor through the Petey Greene Program, helping students strengthen their skills in math and science. In this role, I have worked with students from diverse academic backgrounds and learning styles, adapting my teaching approach to meet individual needs. I have seen firsthand how confidence and a supportive environment help students make meaningful progress. These experiences have taught me the importance of patience, adaptability, and encouraging students to become independent learners. I enjoy helping students move beyond memorization and develop problem-solving skills.
My tutoring style is supportive, interactive, and tailored to each student's needs. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. During sessions, I break concepts into manageable steps, identify gaps in understanding, and adjust my explanations to each student's learning style. Rather than simply providing answers, I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind a solution so they can apply those skills on their own.
I look forward to helping students across a variety of STEM subjects. Whether you're preparing for an exam, tackling difficult homework, or building confidence in the classroom, I am committed to creating a positive learning environment and helping you achieve your goals.
