Hi there! I am a recently graduated creative writing student from Hamilton College. I have 8+ years of editing and copywriting experience, and as a creative writing major, I have experience providing feedback on all types from writing from essays, to short stories, to poems.

As a creative writing major, I have participated in many workshops during my time at Hamilton College. I am adept at providing compliments and constructive criticism to the writer in the room. I am an efficient and clear communicator; several writers have told me they find my feedback especially valuable. I love getting to know the writers around me and understanding the way they produce their work. The collaborative learning experience of simultaneous writing and editing taught me a lot about the creative process. I often followed peers’ drafts from outline to completion, providing developmental editing throughout. I used my developmental and copy editing skills especially this past summer. I was awarded the Emerson Grant from Hamilton College to create a novella-length retelling of Shakespeare’s Othello. Over the course of this project, I set my own deadlines and worked almost entirely independently to meet them. Before the writing even began, I did extensive research on comparative titles and the historical context of the play. My understanding of the writing process has primed me to work with authors directly as I know what kinds of feedback can be helpful at different stages.

I have a keen editorial eye and a passion for creation and storytelling. I'm looking forward to working with you!

Classics

I minored in Classical Studies at Hamilton College. As a freshman, I won the Curran Prize Scholarship for Classical Languages for my outstanding performance in my introduction to Ancient Greek class. I studied abroad in Athens over the summer of 2023 and got to see a great deal of the Peloponnese region. Additionally, during my junior year of college, I completed an independent study analyzing The Odyssey and The Iliad. I wrote a 20 page paper entitled identifying what qualities made certain characters heroes, and what kept others from achieving that label. I presented a shorter paper entitled "Seven New Tripods and Ten Pounds of Gold: The Failed Apotheosis of Achilles and the Material Debate Over Godhood" at the Parilia conference.

As an editor on the Red Weather Prose Board, I read over 150 pages of short fiction acquisitions per semester. Similar to my work as a creative writing major, I provide each and every writer with compliments, constructive criticism, and line edits when necessary.

In addition to my expansive creative writing experience, I also have a lot of experience with academic writing, including proposals. Hamilton College requires its students to take three Writing Intensive courses; I have taken many more than that in a vast array of subjects including Classical Studies, Literature, History, and Film & Media Studies.
