(QUALIFICATIONS) I am a 3.91 GPA graduate who majored in Politics, Economics & Law, at SUNY Old Westbury, from which I received the "President's Award for Scholarship" (highest honor bestowed to a student by the university). I speak Spanish as a product of my time studying in Spain and Mexico, and have received DELE certification by the Spanish government. (QUALIFICATIONS) I am a 3.91 GPA graduate who majored in Politics, Economics & Law, at SUNY Old Westbury, from which I received the "President's Award for Scholarship" (highest honor bestowed to a student by the university). I speak Spanish as a product of my time studying in Spain and Mexico, and have received DELE certification by the Spanish government. As a national Gilman Scholar in Mexico, I worked with little children in assisting with developmental and educational activities. At that same time, I worked as a document translator for the organization “Justicia Ciudadana”, and as a political researcher and analyzer for the risk consulting firm “STRATOP”. On top of this, I was an assistant to the university’s president for 1 ½ years, belonging to a team that reviewed high profile issues. During my year as a resident assistant, I acted as an advisor, guide, and resource to more than 100 students. Further evidence of my expertise for the areas I tutor come from the works I have had published: 9 newspaper articles I wrote, several opinion pieces, and 2 research papers. Said expertise is also backed up by my participation in various simulations and conferences, including a model united nations in the country of Colombia.

(METHODS & GOALS) The emphasis is on having a *student-tutor* partnership, in which we will collaboratively work together to ensure the student feels comfortable and gets the most out of their lessons as possible. As such, before or at the start of each lesson, I will review the work that the student has already done, the work they will have to do, or otherwise evaluate their current skill level. This will be accompanied by measurable goals set based on the stated goals/expectations of the student. Also includes long-term planning, if requested!

In my professional career, I have had the fortune of working, interning, and volunteering in industries ranging from education, to human service, politics and government, non-profits, consulting, and more, all of which required the passage of one or more interviews. Similar can be said of the various academic and scholarship opportunities I was granted. My personal statements have earned me numerous, prestigious awards and competitions, such as the Gilman national scholarship, the SUNY Old Westbury President’s Medal for Scholarship (only 1 awarded to a student per year), and acceptance to the Harvard Kennedy School Public Policy Leadership Conference. Through these experiences, I have learned how to identify which qualities certain organizations and contests value more over others in the personal statements they review, and how to accordingly answer them in a persuasive way. My university recognizes these qualifications so much to a point where, in addition to actual school staff and faculty, they send students to me for guidance on their own personal statements for scholarships and other admissions.

Mr. Jacob tutored me for my American Government college level course. He is an absolutely amazing tutor and really digs deep into what he is helping you with and makes sure you understand it well before moving on. I like the way he let me structure our lesson and adjusted to my needs while I am currently adjusting to this course! He is a very patient and kind-hearted tutor who is very knowledgeable in social studies. He helped me complete my assignments in a timely manner getting 100%'s on both of them and even helped me with some extra credit work too! He is definitely the best tutor I have had for history.
