I have taught a 3rd grade visual literacy field trip at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, NY, for the past twelve years. I love the interaction with my students! This job allowed me to focus on students' writing abilities while using descriptive language and other tools film makers use in their movies. I have access to this curriculum which I could use to tap into a child's imagination and make learning fun. In addition to this teaching experience, I have 3 children of my own who all attended top universities without needing a single tutor...they had me! I love to read and would be thrilled to help any elementary student discover the joy of reading by helping them choose the best books for them.
I have worked with 3rd grade students in my job at Jacob Burns from districts all over Westchester from Yonkers to Scarsdale to Tarrytown. I have also been in many schools teaching this curriculum and love working with students at all levels of proficiency.
I am an avid reader and writer and help high school seniors every year with their college essays through the YPIE organization. The curriculum I taught was writing based and my 3rd graders loved it.
