I'm Andrew, and welcome to my tutoring page! I believe the best way to learn any complex skill is by keeping things simple, direct, and intuitive. While I have a deep passion for chess, my primary focus here is working with serious LSAT students who want to elevate their scores. The strategy of chess shapes my entire instructional approach: I look at dense logical reasoning questions and reading passages the same way I look at a chessboard—by breaking down structural patterns, observing details carefully, and making calm decisions. Having a BA in psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, I love applying a practical understanding of how people learn to help students build confidence in themselves and their skills.
My methodology is shaped by my own journey and a commitment to tried and true approaches. I earned a 179 on my official LSAT by absorbing the exact framework taught by LSAT by Fisch, relying on careful, critical reading to cut through the noise of the test (don’t get tricked!). In addition to my test prep background, I maintain a 2000+ online chess rating. Over the last few years, I have spent a lot of time helping peers in the young adult age group navigate these fields, whether helping a classmate master critical reading (my main teaching focus) or working through chess strategies together. I also have experience coaching kids in chess, which taught me how to keep lessons engaging and adaptive.
I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible, therefore I welcome any resources or suggestions students or parents can provide. I am easy to reach and will provide timely responses. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson! Whether you are an aspiring law student aiming for an elite score or a player looking to sharpen your tactical intuition, I look forward to partnering with you. See you!
