Hello!

Update: I also have extensive (successful!) experience helping both professionals and students with resumes, CVs, cover letters, and undergraduate/graduate applications.

Hiring a tutor for yourself or your child is an investment in the future, and the paybacks of learning or improving skills, especially in writing and reading. Recognizing the need for help is often difficult, but when it is necessary, it is best to start early. Everyone needs help or support in various areas of their lives: academic needs are no different. My goal as a tutor -- as I work for those who hire me -- is not only to work on immediate needs, such as a project or a course, but to also build a foundation of skills that continue to be of benefit beyond individual tutoring sessions.

**My background:**
I have been working as a tutor with Wyzant for four years, have tutored for 200+ hours, and have met and tutoring many wonderful individuals, none of whom had the same needs. Every session is individualized to your learning style and your goals, because we all work and learn differently. I love what I do: helping people of all ages develop the skills and techniques to succeed. I have over two decades of experience working with students as a tutor, a university teaching assistant, a professor, a graduate student (again!) in education, and a substitute teacher in a K-12 setting.

I have a Ph.D. in art history, and although I do tutor students in my field and related areas, I primarily work with those needing extra help in writing (proofreading, grammar, punctuation, editing), as well as reading. I have tutored students from Kindergarten through graduate school for assignments, general coursework, or extra support outside the classroom, professionals needing help with resumes, cover letters, or other projects, native speakers of English, those who are ESL/ELL, those without learning disabilities, and those with "differently abled" brains. Liz is an outstanding, knowledgeable tutor with a warm, understanding heart.

Liz helped me understand how to approach my complicated master's thesis. She is a master of many fields and a pleasure to work with. You won't regret hiring her.

Experienced, knowledgeable, and patient tutor!

Liz has helped editing my M.A. thesis, a literature review, as well as my Ph.D applications. She not only edits my works in a meticulous and professional way, but also gives me very sharp comments on my works. Her comments also helped me improve my writing skill at the end of sessions! I highly recommend her as a tutor for your writing in any subjects!

Excellent for my son

Liz is helping my son with his senior thesis class in art school in New York City. She engaged him right away and recognized his learning difficulties. I am over the moon with how wonderful their first meeting was. I look forward to him continuing to work with her as he gets through this difficult course and graduates from college.

Excellent tutor

Elizabeth was amazing in editing my paper. She was detailed and gave great suggestions. I am already planning on gaining her input on my next essay. She was very flexible when it took me a little longer than anticipated in my initial draft of the paper.

FIVE STARS

Elizabeth is super friendly and understanding. She was very helpful in editing and reviewing my drafts of a research paper in art history, something I had never for written for before. My final paper received an A and I ended up getting an A- in the class which shocked me because I was really struggling. I definitely would recommend anyone come to Elizabeth for help as she can make you feel prepared and take away some of the anxiety that comes with writing or studying for a hard test/paper.

A fantastic tutor and person. Will seek her help again!!

I recently worked with Elizabeth on my paper for my MA degree in English Literature. As a non-native speaker, I always needed another pair of eyes to make sure my writing makes sense both grammatically and logically. I was SO FORTUNATE to have found Elizabeth, who spent hours with me to explain things clearly and help me hone my paper. She was so patient and kind to me, and I could not have asked for more! She also helped me find joy in writing and editing, which was rather a surprise for me because I usually dread writing a paper. My final product was SO GOOD that I felt I could publish it! I am definitely going back to her and work on my upcoming papers. Also, I am three hours behind her, but she was flexible and worked with my schedule. I am so grateful that she is not only a wonderful person but also a legit scholar who has a vast amount of knowledge. She can break down a concept and answer any questions or confusions you have. If you want to hone your reading, writing, and analytical skills, go work with Elizabeth. She will do magic with you! Elizabeth, thank you so much for your hard work, patience, and kindness. I really appreciate you! I am looking forward to working with you again in the near future.

Impressive Learning Experience

I know using "the best" will be too exaggerated sometimes, but she is definitely the best tutor I have ever met! I would like to recommend her to students who are looking for a patient and enthusiastic tutor.

Very nice tutor

Elizabeth is so nice and patient. My husband learn little english before. The most problem is that he can not open his mouth and speak loudly and clearly. Elizabeth just encourage him again and again. This is very important for beginners to become more confident. Thank you very much!
