Hello there! I'm Sid, a PhD grad in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Cybersecurity and Computer Engineering. My favorite professors were very easy to engage and relate with, always maintained an inclusive and challenging learning environment, and also made learning advanced courses effortless. I try my best to follow their example in my teaching.
My teaching experience spans more than 15 semesters of college level classes in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Math at the Undergraduate and Graduate level, in addition to Physics at the high school-level. I have an average instructor rating of 4.2/5, including 4.4/5 in instructor effectiveness and creating a positive learning environment. Several students praised my responsiveness to individual needs, including accessible accommodations, and appreciated my efforts to connect outside of class to tackle complex topics. My efforts have also earned me a nomination for the Provost’s Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award during my PhD.
I familiarize students with new topics by first relating them with real world problems before going into specific concepts, while constantly linking back to the real problem. I then prioritize solving smaller versions of those problems through short hands-on exercises that strengthen understanding. I embrace the use of AI tools through lessons that prioritize critical thinking and reflection by focusing on identifying inaccuracies in AI generated data while discussing the underlying causes. I serve students with registered disabilities by emphasizing accessibility in course delivery. For example, I use live-captioning tools and prepare transcripts in paper and PDF formats to assist hearing-impaired students during lessons.
I strive to ensure my students are always fully supported. Please feel free to contact me at any time for any questions or if you would like to schedule a lesson. I am always available to help you surpass your learning goals!
